This week, incorporating the Mizva "Hachnasat Orchim" (welcoming guests), we invited the Nachshonim for Havdallah. As Besamim (spices) we used rosemary that Rafi brought from his garden.
We also welcomed Zahava to our classroom. She came with her drum, and we played and sang together. She played some songs that included different roles, and the children practiced taking turns.
In the Tu BeShvat department, we made grass heads with wheat grass and dirt in a stocking.
We played with sticks and branches, sometimes wrapping them with yarn
We sang plaenty of Tu BeShvat and tree songs with Melita and without her. Songs like "The Almond Tree is Flowering"(HaShkedia Porachat in its English version), Way Up High In The Apple Tree, I Wonna Grow, My Roots Go down.
We played a lot with rhythm sticks, and marched around
We played with squishy balls in the indoors sensory table
Menachem came to tell us the story of Parashat HaShavoua and we decided to enact it on Ma'agal Shabbat (Shabbat circle). Some children played Moses, some played Miriam, one child was Nachshon and some were the water, rising to cover him and then moving away.
Reminder: This upcoming Wednesday we will be having Tu BeShvat Seder with the one and only Judy Massarano. On Tuesday we will be going to Ofra's community garden.
Have a sweet new week
Anna, Colin and Angelina
