Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

HaShavuah - Nachshonim

HaShavuah/ This Week
January 16, 201525 Tevet, 5775

Shalom Nachshonim Families,

We are happy to share with you the highlights of our week!

-We went on a field trip on Wednesday. We walked to Strawberry Creek Park to play at the playground. The children noticed that there are no strawberries at Strawberry Creek Park. From there we walked to see the community garden where Ofra has a small garden plot. We nibbled on some greens that were growing and we saw the beehives there. Thank you Michal and Khaled who volunteered to join us on our outing this week.

Sprouting and growing:
-Our wheatgrass is getting taller and we will continue to water it.
-We gave Rena the wheatgrass we have grown and she mows it down. We watched her eat and she lets us pet her when she is eating.
-We had a good look at the roots that grew from our wheatgrass. that fill up the clear plastic container that holds the dirt. We talked about how the other plants we have indoors and in the play yard have roots too.
-On our field trip to the community garden, we talked about how things grow from seeds and how the plants need to be watered.
-We have a few books about plants and things that grow on our bookshelf.

-The children have been sweeping aleem/leaves in the play yard.

-We played with shaving cream and soft foam blocks to build with at the table in the kitah.

-We are still lighting a ner/candle at lunchtime and turning off the lights. This has been going on since Hanukkah.

-We were happy to have Caitlin in the kitah again this week. Her friend Khaled also came to volunteer in the Kita and on our field trip. Vered will be back with us next week

-We played with Play Dough and sticky foam a few times this week.

-Melita has been singing nursery rhymes with us the last couple of weeks. The children remembered that we have a book of nursery rhymes we have been reading and enjoying them.

Thanks for reading.
Shabbat Shalom
Ofra and Caitlin
