Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

Shalom Nachshonim Families!

We have had a very exciting and busy week. Here are the highlights of what took place in the kitah/classroom this week.

-We are thrilled to welcome two new friends who have joined us in the kitah this week. Eliana joined us on Monday, and Oliver joined us on Friday. Welcome to our new friends and their families!

-Vered is still in Israel this week and we have had the pleasure of having Caitlin as a substitute. Caitlin worked for CNS preschool for many years and we are happy to have her again.

-We have been reading "Pete The Cat, I Love My White Shoes ". We have been listening to the disk a lot. It is a very fun book.

"The Carrot Seed"/Planting and growing seeds:
-We have also been reading "The Carrot Seed", the classic book written by Ruth Krauss. Inspired by the book, we had a chance to have a close look at carrot seeds that grew in Ofra's garden. We observed how tiny the seeds are and we observed how the seeds form from the flower. We discussed the process of growing seeds and how they need water to grow, just as the little boy in the story continued to water his plant.
-On Wednesday the children explored different kinds of seeds. They played with sunflower seeds and wheat berries. We talked about how Rena loves to eat wheat grass so we plan on growing some for her to enjoy.
-We soaked the wheat berries overnight. The following day we put some dirt in small containers and sprinkled the sprouted seeds on top. We gave the seeds water with our squeeze bottles. We then covered up the containers so that the seeds will start to grow in the dark. We will see what we return to on Monday.

-We experimented with our new "Kinetic Sand".

-The children used Play Dough out in the play yard.

-DANCE PARTY on the white carpet! We danced to "Animal Actions" and "The Freeze Dance".

-We continue to feed and take care of Rena our beloved guinea pig.

We look forward to learning more about growing our seeds and we look forward to more fun and play.

Shabbat Shalom Kulam/Shabbat Shalom Everyone

Ofra and Caitlin
