Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

HaShavuah - Nevonim

HaShavua ~ Nevonim
December 12, 2014 ~ Kislev 20, 5775

Hello, all!
Here are highlights from this cloudy outside but bright and busy inside week in the kitah:
  • Rabbi Creditor came in to share this week's parashah, Vayeshev, all about Joseph and his brothers.
  • Maurice Levitch, Ruth's husband, visited with his dump truck! We went up and down in the bed of the truck, and learned about the tarp, tool box, safety cones, and cab. He even has a fire extinguisher! We saw how all the doors open and come off. We learned the word "debris." We also read a related rhyming book, My Truck is Stuck! ... and are glad to know that Maurice has never run into a group of hungry prairie dogs!
  • Chanukah  is almost here! We focused on sevivon/dreidels as well as other spinning things like gyroscopes and tops of all kinds. We made Chanukah art using glitter, paper, cellophane, and candle drippings. We even made Chanukah hats! We sang more Chanukah songs with Melita and during our daily circle times. Ruth taught us Ner li ner li. Here are the lyrics and Youtube link:

Ner li, ner li, ner li dakik
BaHanukkah neri ad'lik
BaHanukkah neri ya'ir
BaHanukkah shirim ashir
BaHanukkah neri ya'ir
BaHanukkah shirim ashir

I have a candle, a petite candle
On Hanukkah I shall light my candle
On Hanukkah my candle will give light
On Hanukkah, I shall sing songs
On Hanukkah my candle will give light
On Hanukkah, I shall sing songs
Shabbat Shalom U'Mevorach!
Judy, Ruth, Anna, and Simone
