Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

Shalom Nachshonim families,

We have much to share with you about the last two weeks. Here are some of the exciting things that have been going on.

Sensory activities:
-We made a new batch of play dough, magenta!
-The children played with ooblek, a mixture of corn starch and water, and mixed it with liquid paints of various colors.
-The children played with shaving cream and soft blocks and created structures on the table.

Channukah activities:
-We pulled out some Chanukkah materials from the shed. We now have a channikiot, sevivonim/dreidels, candles and some books about Chanukkah as we get ready for the chag/holiday
-The children played with play dough and Chanukkah candles.
-We sang Channukah songs with Melita
- We have been lighting a candle at our mealtimes. We watch the candles melt and eventually burn out. We noticed that there was some smoke after it burnt out.

-We talked about fire safety and we had a fire drill. We now know what to do in the case of an emergency.
-The Nevonim kitah invited firefighters to come visit the school with their fire engine. We got very excited and firefighter Jim showed us his fire engine and told us about his job.

-Our baby dolls now have bottles for drinking.
-We have a new dollhouse at school. It was a gift from Marcia, who we often see in the kitchen, and her family. We talked about making a thank you card.

-We often talk about who is absent. We have been mentioning Lev, who took an airplane to visit south Africa.
-The children played in the social hall on a rainy days with our tunnel, our pop up tent and our new dollhouse. The children also spent time running, playing and dancing in the rain!
-The children made marble paintings with shoe box lids.

-We went on a field trip to Strawberry Creek Park last Wednesday. Thank you Aba Dan for joining us. We hope to do it again soon, perhaps this coming week.

-Colin, our substitute teacher and friend, joined us in the kitah on Friday

Shavuah Tov,
Ofra and Vered
