Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

Shalom Nachshonim Families!

We had a lot of fun exploring and playing last week. Here are the highlights of our week.

Omanut/ Art
-We have hung up the large communal painting on the wall in the kitah/classroom.
-The children created small paintings using Q-tips to apply the paint. Later in the week we framed and hung these paintings on the wall.
-We talked about how leaves fall from trees in the fall. We gathered some leaves and did some gluing.
Music
-We had our first visit from Melita, our music specialist!
-we have been enjoying the song "Five Green and Speckled Frogs". We have the felt board pieces for the song so the kids can sing it on their own.
-We have been singing "Tapuchim U'Dvash" and we have talking about the upcoming holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

Tapuchim U'Dvash/Apples and Honey/Rosh Hashanah
-We ate apples and honey for snack.-We observed three apples that have different colors. One red, one yellow and one green. We then made paintings with these colors. We plan to eat these apples this week to see the different flavors.
-We had a look at two shofars, one was big and one was small. We heard what it sounds like when the shofar calls. We have a very simple book that talks about all the different calls the shofar makes. We have been using our voices to mimic the call of the shofar.

-We have been enjoying the book called "Little Blue and Little Yellow" by Leo Lionni. When they hug each other, they turn green! We noticed that when we put our blue and yellow color paddles together, they make green just like little blue and a little yellow.
-we have talked about how the primary colors make other colors and we can use our color paddles to see how the mix.
-When we were painting with the colors of apples, we used to blue and yellow to make a green.
-We shared the yard and the Nevonim children one morning last week.
-We baked challah on Friday for pretend Shabbat.

Shavuah Tov. Have a great week.
