Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

HaShavuah She'avar - Nachshonim

Hashavuah She'avar/Last week

Shalom Nachshonim Families,
Last week was short but still very eventful. Here are the highlights of last weeks activities at school.

Watching things grow:
-We watched our wheatgrass and sunflower sprouts grow. We soaked the seeks the previous week. The sunflower seeds did not grow so well, but the grass grew very well. Soon we will taste the wheatgrass ourselves and feed it to the guinea pigs.
-We have been watering our sprouts with squeeze bottles.
-Out in the play yard, the parsley seeds we planted some time ago have sprouted in our garden bed.

-We have a heap of playing cards the children have been playing with and making art with.
-The children have been practicing their fine motor skills of cutting these playing cards and yarn with scissors.

-The magnet tiles are a big hit around here. We brought the rest of the set over from the Nevonim kitah and we have enough for everyone.

-We have been playing in the social hall with magnet tiles, the balance beam and soft balls.

Courtyard activities:
-Some children found puddles in the courtyard after a rainy day to jump in.
-We played Red Light! Green Light! out in the courtyard a few times last week.
-Drawing with chalk, running, and playing with balls.

-We read about Ariella's experience with Baby Owl at her house and we looked at the drawing she made in the journal. Baby Owl is now staying with Asher this week.

-We had visits from Melita on Tuesday, Menachem on Wednesday and Ruti on Wednesday

-We still have requests to light a Ner /candle and turn out the light during snack and lunch time!

Circle time
-We continue to sing and play the game called "Scooby Doo". We sing about the day of the week and every child gets a chance to show everyone what they "can do". We practice waiting for our turn.
-Ofra taught everyone a new song she learned called Ickity Bickity Bumble Bee. It is a song about names.
-We discussed that we will be having a new friend at school named Hillel and will be joining the Nachshonim kitah this week. Hillel and his family are here from Israel and we are happy to welcome them into our kitah. In fact, we got to meet them today when they came to visit and spend the morning with us!

More to come soon!
Shavuah tov,
Ofra and Anna
