Dear Nevonim Parents,
Perhaps this week we should call this Hashanah since this is our last Hashavuah of the school year. As such, it has been a very sweet and poignant last full week as some of the children have started talking about B'Derech and where they will be going to camp or school, while others are talking about what children will be in Nevonim with them next year.
We have been able to talk about these topics while still exploring themes that come up such as termites, which was a fun research project one day, an action-packed dramatic play another day, and finally culminated in our building our own termite colony out of moon sand.
We also sang with Melita, did a final Drama session with Cheryl, and learned Torah with Menachem. We had fun learning about Korach and his attempt to take over Moshe's leadership resulting in the earth becoming like a mouth and swallowing him with a great burp! Keeping with last week's parashah about the grapes as big as watermelons, we have been making giant paper mache grapes.
We also made thank you and congratulation cards this week, as we have a lot of people to thank for their help this past year - volunteers, after school teachers, visitors, and even the vet who treated Boris.. We have also had a good time this week with a big celebration of Boris stories including a final one where Boris goes to Israel with Ruth and several children. Now, every single child who wanted to has been featured in a wild Boris adventure. If you ask them, they can probably tell you their favorite one! Boris is still recuperating with Ofra.
On Tuesday we went for our final field trip this year to Helios corner for summer fun activities. At school, we had summer fun with baseball and water play, and painting with cars. We also had our last fire and earthquake drills, showing us that the children know exactly what to do in an emergency!
Today we celebrated Shabbat by reading "Hannah's Sabbath Dress."
Next week, by popular demand, TUESDAY IS PAJAMA DAY!
Finally, we want to thank you for sharing your children with us. It has been a great year, filled with chesed, kavod and lots of love and learning!
