Congregation Netivot Shalom Preschool seeks to create a stimulating and enriching educational environment for each and every child.
We are devoted to helping children learn socialization skills, building their self-confidence and teaching them the preliminary skills to explore and experience the world independently from their parents.
In addition, we seek to ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to her or his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning.

HaShavuah - Nevonim

Dear Nevonim Parents,

We had a short, but sweet Sukkot week. We built and decorated our sukkah in the yard with lots of fabric and decorations. We ate snack, lunch and celebrated Nevo's 5th birthday in the shul sukkah. We sang lots of sukkot songs. We went on two separate Sukkah strolls, one to Shirlee's house (we saw two sukkot) and then a much longer one to Nevo's house (where we also visited two sukkot). We compared building materials, siding, sckrach (covering), decorations and how they were furnished. In the last sukkah we told a group story about animals in the sukkah based on Bubbe Isabella's Sukkot cake. Then we walked home through the BART station and created a collective story based on what we saw on our walk. In circle, we shook the lulav, said the blessings and discussed the meaning and symbols of the holiday. Today we had Pretend Shabbat in the sukkah and we began talking about Simchat Torah - we also made flags for the holiday.

We baked pumpkin bread which we have been eating all week. We played Jewish symbol Bingo. We played cards. We read and created a play for a book called Clever Cat.

It was a good week - hope you have a good weekend and Chag Sameach.....
